It's Wednesday, August 26th. Claude Memory now carries your role, preferences, and project context across Chat and cloud Cowork. Perplexity's Portable Computer takes the opposite route and puts the agent on local hardware, an NVIDIA DGX Spark, where routine work runs without consuming Perplexity credits.

In Today’s Top Tools, we spotlight some of the most innovative, creative AI apps that we recommend adding to your stack.
TOOL SPOTLIGHT
🔧 Claude Memory Carries Your Context Across Chat And Cloud Cowork

Image from ZDNET
Claude Memory generates memory as you chat rather than summarizing afterward, saving individual topics automatically or when you tell it to remember something. It applies to Chat and cloud Cowork, which share the same memory; local Cowork sessions do not use it. Sensitive topics are excluded by default, and incognito chats are not stored.
Remember earlier context and build on it without re-explaining your role, preferences, or project details.
Separate each project into its own memory space so context stays focused and does not bleed across work.
Control every entry by viewing, editing, pausing, or resetting memory in settings, with citations linking back to the source chat.
Free, Pro, and Max have memory on by default. On Team and Enterprise it is off until an owner turns it on, and an enterprise admin can disable it again at any time.
Somebody at your company owns this decision, and on Team and Enterprise it is a specific named person: memory stays off until an owner turns it on. Anthropic did the sensible things, keeping sensitive topics out by default and giving every project its own memory space, which it calls a safety guardrail. What it cannot do is decide what your team should be telling Claude about clients, salaries, or a reorg nobody has announced yet. If you are the owner holding that toggle, write down what does not go in before you flip it, because this memory is much easier to fill than to audit.

⚡ Perplexity's Portable Computer Runs A Local-First Agent On DGX Spark

Image from NVIDIA
Perplexity's Portable Computer is a local-first agent optimized for the NVIDIA DGX Spark. NVIDIA's co-launch post confirms it runs either Qwen 3.8 27B or PPLX 27B, Perplexity's post-trained version of that model, and NVIDIA's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, a 30B open model, is coming to the picker soon. Linux ships first, with Windows next and RTX GPU PCs after that.
Available to Pro and Max subscribers. Local work carries no per-credit charge; escalating a job to the cloud draws on credits as usual.
This one is a purchase decision, not a settings change. You are being asked to buy a DGX Spark so your agent stops metering you, which only pencils out if you are running enough volume for the credits to hurt. If you are, the math is simple and the privacy story comes free: your documents never leave the desk. The part nobody has tested is the handoff. An agent that quietly escalates to the cloud mid-task is a different product from one that asks first, and Perplexity has not said which one you are getting.

⚡ The first accredited AGI graduate degree, applications close August 31
The first accredited graduate program dedicated specifically to AGI.
The California Institute for Human Science has launched the M.S. in Artificial General Intelligence, the first accredited graduate program dedicated specifically to AGI. Applications for the inaugural cohort close August 31.
It is taught live and online by researchers who helped found the field, including Dr. Ben Goertzel, who launched the term and concept of "artificial general intelligence" and founded SingularityNET, the ASI Alliance, and the Hyperon AGI project. He teaches alongside Dr. Matthew Iklé and Dr. Gabriel Axel Montes, the program's Chair and Director.
The degree runs 58 quarter units over six quarters, moving from theories of intelligence, philosophy of mind, and consciousness studies into cognitive architectures, probabilistic logic, and AGI evaluation, and closing with an original master's project.
CIHS is institutionally accredited by WSCUC. No GRE is required and applications are reviewed as they arrive. The program is open worldwide and in 31 approved U.S. states, so check eligibility before applying.
