It's Wednesday, August 5th. Gemini Spark can now run web errands inside your own Chrome, using the sites you are already signed into, and it stops for you at anything sensitive. Nous shipped Hermes v0.20.0 with barge-in voice and a desktop app. Hermes is free; Spark needs AI Pro.

In Today’s Top Tools, we spotlight some of the most innovative, creative AI apps that we recommend adding to your stack.
TOOL SPOTLIGHT
🔧 Gemini Spark Now Drives The Chrome You Already Use

Image from Google
Google announced Chrome auto browse for Gemini Spark and began rolling it out in the US. Spark can now connect to your own local Chrome, one of several ways it browses, and it might also use a separate remote browser.
Hand Spark an errand like comparing products, booking travel, or making a dinner reservation, and it works through the sites you are signed into.
Watch the auto browse icon on the tab it is driving, and take over the task yourself at any point.
Grant sign-in access per site through Google Password Manager, which does not share your passwords with Gemini in Chrome, and revoke it later in Password Manager settings.
You need to be 18 or over, in the US, on desktop Chrome with a personal account and a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan; it does not run in Incognito, and sensitive steps get handed back to you.
Running an agent inside your already-authenticated browser solves the biggest bottleneck in web automation: identity and login state. Shifting execution to your local session turns passive chat into immediate utility, but it flips the security model on its head. The key challenge moving forward will be refining handoff friction and ensuring safety stops feel like seamless user confirmations rather than constant flow-breakers.

⚡ Nous Research Gave Hermes A Voice You Can Interrupt

Image from Nous Research
Nous Research released Hermes Agent v0.20.0 on August 3, the work of 650+ contributors and roughly 3,650 commits. The headline is voice, added to an agent that already carries what it learns about your projects from one session to the next.
Interrupt it mid-sentence. Barge-in speech synthesizes clause by clause, and on-device wake words you pick yourself start a session hands-free.
Let it accumulate. It searches its own past conversations, auto-generates skills from what worked, and carries one memory across Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, and the CLI.
Install the desktop app for versioned artifact cards, a sandboxed live preview, and a global hotkey window that drops a thought into any session.
Free and MIT-licensed, it runs on any model you point it at, from Nous Portal to OpenRouter to your own endpoint; desktop builds cover macOS 12+, Windows 10/11, and Linux.
Interruptible voice and continuous cross-platform memory transform an agent from a disposable utility into an ongoing collaborator. Talking directly to running threads shifts your role from writing prompts to directing a real-time team. The main hurdle will be cognitive bandwidth: as agents handle parallel execution across multiple platforms, directing them via voice in real time will test the limits of human focus.
