🕶️ Meta unveils neural interface smart glasses

News: Meta debuted three smart glasses models at Meta Connect 2025: Ray-Ban Display Glasses integrated with the Neural Band. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 with improved features. Oakley Meta Vanguard for performance-focused users.
Details:
The Neural Band detects muscle signals before visible movement via EMG, enabling subtle finger gesture control.
It personalizes to each user’s muscle patterns, allowing nearly invisible interaction and 18-hour battery life.
Ray-Ban Gen 2 glasses now offer 8-hour battery life, 3K Ultra HD video capture, enhanced voice isolation, and 32GB storage.
Oakley Meta Vanguard targets athletes with Garmin sync, swappable lenses, 9-hour battery, and water resistance.
Why it matters: Meta is addressing two chronic flaws in wearable tech: user adoption and frictionless input. With the Neural Band capturing pre-motion intent and the Display Glasses offering real-time augmented information, this product suite could define the next leap in smart wearables and hands-free computing.
🌐 Google integrates Gemini into Chrome

News: Google has officially embedded Gemini into Chrome for all desktop users in the U.S., equipping the browser with AI-powered features like multi-tab context, native AI Mode, and more.
Details:
Gemini is now available via a dedicated button, letting users analyze content and ask questions about single pages or synthesize information across multiple tabs without juggling windows.
Chrome’s address bar (omnibox) will soon gain "AI Mode", enabling complex, multi-step, conversational queries and delivering rich generative answers.
Gemini will soon be able to handle agentic workflows, performing end-to-end tasks like grocery shopping or booking appointments through web automation.
Why it matters: Google is embedding AI where nearly 3.5 billion users already work and browse, creating one of the largest distribution channels in history. Unlike competitors building new browsers, Google is integrating Gemini into Chrome’s dominant footprint. If successful, this move could redefine how users interact with the web, turning the browser into a full agentive interface. It also explains why Perplexity reportedly considered a $34.5B acquisition of Chrome, valuing distribution over parity. The competitive stakes are clear: Google’s rollout could reshape the AI browser landscape entirely.
