Introduction
As The GenAI Collective community continues to grow, we are thrilled to introduce our inaugural community newsletter! A reflection of our shared passion for generative AI, every newsletter will dive into a thought-provoking topic around the latest in AI, provide a curated list of upcoming events, and much more! Your feedback will guide our journey, so let's innovate and connect, one newsletter at a time!
Consumer-grade does not mean enterprise-grade
In the last 12 months, generative AI has shot well past the hype stage and has become ubiquitous across virtually every industry. We have seen countless studies showing that generative technologies could add trillions of dollars to the global economy in the next 10 years by increasing productivity across a wide range of use cases and verticals, and the venture community agrees. Although total venture funding is down 49% year-over-year in the first half of 2023 (EY 2023), generative AI funding has experienced hockey stick-like growth with startups looking to capitalize on the enterprise potential.

C-suite awareness is high with executives keen to add generative AI capabilities to their existing products and internal tooling. According to an IBM 2023 Executive Survey, more than half of C-suite executives face pressure from both their shareholders and employees to adopt generative technologies to remain competitive and boost productivity. The ChatGPT moment catalyzed interest but barriers to adoption still remain.
Inaccuracy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property infringement are the most-cited risks of generative AI adoption

At The GenAI Collective we’ve brought together executives, VCs, and early-stage founders to better understand why there remains a dislocation between enterprise awareness and adoption, and the answer is clear. The ecosystem for enabling technologies—a category we call Responsible AI—needs to develop further for large companies to feel the value potential to outweigh the risks. Some of these segments include model security, data privacy, bias & hallucination, governance & compliance, and compute optimization. Responsible AI is one of the many topics we would love to continue to facilitate conversations around as the category evolves.
We are excited to continue to bring together leaders across the ecosystem in order to catalyze innovation and define the future of generative AI! We are committed to elevating unique perspectives from the community. If you have any topics or insights you would like to share, please reach out to [email protected] for a feature in our next newsletter.
