Battle head-to-head in a live coding showdown inspired by METR's latest evals!

SF’s ultimate humans-vs-agents coding showdown is on, with $12,500 up for grabs. On Saturday, Sept 6, participants will be randomly assigned to build either without AI or with leading tools like Factory, then face off on speed, quality, and output. The day starts with check-in and speakers, hacking runs 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and the night ends with demos and judging.

Expect a stacked room with Brian Fioca, Shyamal Anadkat, Marius Buleandra, Varin Nair, and Swyx. Factory, Raindrop, METR, and The Collective are sponsoring, and winners will receive OpenAI and Anthropic credits. Submissions are anonymized for METR’s research, IP stays with you, and the event is fully in person with meals and an afterparty.

Open Build is a low-pressure, high-creativity build night with Windsurf’s AI-native IDE. Come jam with fellow developers, ship something real in a short sprint, and cap it with quick demos and feedback. Some cities include partner spotlights, prizes, and API credits.

Seattle, Detroit, Mexico City, and Bengaluru just wrapped with packed rooms, fast builds, and lively code-and-tell sessions. Builders paired Windsurf with favorite tools, traded prompts and shortcuts, and shipped everything from workflow widgets to data-powered prototypes in under an hour.
