This Week at the Collective
Every Wednesday, we spotlight chapters doing incredible things with their members. This week’s issue takes us across three different continents…
🗽 AI Collective NYC × Tandem AI: Research Roundtable with NVIDIA

The AI Collective New York chapter hosted a Research Roundtable with Tandem AI, featuring NVIDIA senior research scientists Shubham Toshniwal and Shuoyang Ding. Held at Tandem AI’s New York office, the event welcomed more than 170 attendees for an evening focused on cutting-edge advances in reasoning and multimodal models.
Shubham Toshniwal, a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA, presented his work on mathematical reasoning models, including the AIMO-2 dataset and GenSelect, a generative method for solution selection that extends reasoning beyond scoring. Shuoyang Ding, also a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA, discussed his research on algorithms for reasoning across speech and text, drawing from prior experience with Amazon Translate, Amazon Q for Business, and Titan Text Embeddings.
The event featured presentations, an interactive Q&A, and networking sessions over food and drinks, offering researchers a chance to exchange insights on generative AI and reasoning architectures.
🇦🇪 Hello AI Collective Dubai!

The AI Collective hosted its first-ever meetup in Dubai, held at Community Power Dubai in Dubai Media City. The launch introduced the Collective’s global network to one of the world’s fastest-growing innovation hubs, bringing together founders, operators, and researchers from across the UAE’s AI ecosystem.
The event was organized by Sana Bagersh, in partnership with Community Power Dubai and Tamakkan, a regional thought-leadership platform advancing entrepreneurship and innovation. Discussions highlighted Dubai’s emerging role in global AI collaboration, exploring how community-driven initiatives can bridge technology, education, and investment across sectors.
🇰🇪 Windsurf Open Build Nairobi

At ALX Kenya (The Piano), more than 100 developers and builders gathered for the Windsurf Open Build, co-organized by Windsurf, ADAMUR, and The AI Collective. The hands-on session explored Windsurf’s Cascade, Code, and Write Modes, alongside secure deployment to Netlify, model switching between GPT-5, Sonnet-4, and other LLMs, and best practices for safe credential handling. Builders tested self-critique and step-by-step prompting techniques, turning AI from a passive tool into an active coding partner.
Moderated by Katrina Wanjugu Muchemi, the panel “The Dawn of Vibe-Coding vs. Traditional Methods” framed AI collaboration as a new creative discipline. Attendees also learned design shortcuts using 21st.dev, Uiverse, and shadcn/ui, then shared live demos and projects built during the session.
🌁 Join us for an evening with the AI Safety Awareness Project in SF!

Presented by The AI Collective SF in partnership with the AI Safety Awareness Project, this session explores the accelerating pace of AI progress and its implications for society. Taking place on Thursday, October 23 in San Francisco, the 90-minute hybrid presentation and live forecasting exercise will examine scenarios from job automation to self-improving systems and forecast milestones on the path toward AGI.
The program covers how deep learning systems are “grown, not designed,” why AI is advancing twice as fast as the internet, and what real incidents reveal about alignment and safety. Attendees will engage with experts, model predictions, and strategies for responsible innovation. Food, drinks, and discussion provided.

🎃 AI Collective Tri-Valley: Halloween Night of AI Truths & Terrors

This Thursday, October 23, the AI Collective Tri-Valley chapter invites you to a themed evening that pulls back the curtain on artificial intelligence. The program features a live discussion on the real state of AI today and the risks and responsibilities that come with it.
A panel of experts — Ryan Prenger (NVIDIA, Deep Learning Research), Tom D’Aquino (HiddenLayer, AI Security), and Ash Kumra (The AI Collective) — will dissect emerging trends, model security threats, and adoption practices guided by the AI Collective Institute’s AI Trust Report. From cutting-edge research and live demos to candid conversation on safety and innovation, the night delivers sharp insight and genuine substance.
Costumes are optional but encouraged. Expect an interactive, community-driven experience for founders, investors, and newcomers alike, complete with networking, discussion, and a touch of Halloween flair.
